ABOUT EXCAVATING WASHINGTON, DC

“Excavating Washington, DC: The Discovery of America’s Greatest Heroes” is a new book comprised of 200 American heroes of both local and national interest that highlights their extraordinary biographies and accomplishments, while tracing their historical footprints in the Greater Washington, DC Area (including historical sites, homes, buildings, artifacts, and events). It is backed by 10 years and 5,000 hours of research from more than 10,000 historical sources.

The significance of the book is that it identifies more than 400 newly discovered surviving historical homes in the Greater DC Area associated with these American heroes that nobody even knows about or were once known and forgotten over time.

The subtitle for the finished book is “The Complete Encyclopedia of 200 Heroes.” Future releases anticipate to sub-divide the 200 Heroes into smaller and more affordable books and offer special subsets according to different themes and interests (i.e., US Presidents, US Scientists, Inventors, and Explorers, etc.).

Six special subset books have already been completed and are now available to order (i.e., Revolutionary War Heroes, US Army Heroes, US Navy and USMC Heroes, US Astronauts, Aviators, Astronomers, and Air Force Heroes, Female American Heroes, and Black American Heroes).

THE AUTHOR

The author, “Digger Dave” Miller, is a management consultant by day and a passionate part-time researcher of American history in his spare time, where he enthusiastically “digs” through piles of research looking for local historical treasures.

After 10 years of research, he would like to share the summary of his findings with those who love American history, as well as those who like to adventure, explore, and discover the rich local history of various neighborhoods, and historic footprints of national figures in the Greater DC Area (and in their own back yards).
